Before you read this essay, prisoners have many situations, The prisoner I am talking about here refers to a felon who has committed a felony such as a sex crime or murder and whose face is exposed to the public. Prisoners reentering society is a serious social issue. I am against prisoners coming back to society.
First, citizens are uncomfortable. If prisoners live in the same town as normal citizens, citizens can definitely be nervous and anxious. People can think the prisoner hurts them even policemans are always monitoring. There is no 100 percent safety so that makes citizens afraid and agitated. The image of the town is getting bad. In case, the prisoners living in the same town can make other citizens think that the city is harmful. The people think prisoners live in a bad neighborhood and prisoners can be a danger to themselves which makes house prices decline. So prisoners affect citizen’s lives.
Second, prisoners are hard to adapt into society. They adapted to follow orders at the prison but if they live in society, they need to adapt can be a big challenge. Prisoners have to all things by themselves. Prisoners probably struggle at that part. Also prisoners are hard to find a job. When prisoners submit a resume to a company, any company will hire someone who has a criminal history. In essence, it is difficult to find a job in a company where you have to work part-time to earn money for living, which is difficult for prisoners to enter into society.
Third, prisoners wouldn’t commit a crime in the first place; it was enough to return to society after only a few years in prison. It is difficult for a prisoner who has committed a felony to repent. People do not change easily. Of course there are some people to change, but for prisoners who had committed even felony crimes to change. It can be seen that the recidivism surveyed by the National Police Agency is 53.7%. So felony offenders are more likely to commit a crime again.
Therefore, If prisoners reenter society it can make citizens distressed, prisoners can commit crimes again and prisoners are hard to acclimate to the community. So I am against those prisoners returning into society.
