Bia Kim

Hi, I’m Bia Kim. I came to Canada alone from South Korea as a teenager, and since then, learning how to navigate new places and cultures has become a central part of who I am.

I am now studying International Studies at Simon Fraser University, concentrating on Comparative World Politics, Culture, and Society. My academic path grew naturally from my personal experiences of adapting to unfamiliar environments and questioning how global systems shape people’s opportunities and limitations.

I’m especially interested in migration and refugee experiences, climate change, and development, as well as culture and history. These issues matter to me not only as political problems but as deeply human issues. I want to understand how policies affect everyday lives and how communities respond to uncertainty and change.

Whether I’m conducting research or creating written and digital projects, I try to approach each topic with empathy, attentiveness, and critical thinking. This website gathers the work that reflects my academic journey.
