Negative effects of television and computer games

Topic: Some people believe that violence on television and in computer games has a damaging effect on the society. Others deny that these factors have any significant influence on people’s behaviour. What is your opinion?

Some people think that television and computer games interfere with their social lives, while others argue that they do not. Definitely, television and computer games interfere with social life.

Computer games often involve killing enemies with weapons like guns and knives, but the real world is a different place, where people are part of a social community and work together to solve social problems. The cruelty of computer games can lead to war, not world peace, and can put many people at risk.  Moreover, people who are addicted to computer games are not moral: in computer games, killing people is justified, but in society, murder is a clear crime. People who are addicted to these games may not be able to adapt to a real moral and humane society and, in the worst case, may commit murder.  This is a definite disadvantage of computer games.

Moreover, excessive television viewing and computer gaming cause a number of health problems. Prolonged use of electronics strains the eyes and impairs vision due to electromagnetic radiation, and the forward neck posture can lead to torticollis. Young people are especially vulnerable to these health problems. Adolescence is a time when their bodies are growing, and TV and computer games cause a number of illnesses that stunt their growth. TV viewing and computer games that cause such ill health have a negative impact on society.

In conclusion, television and computer games create the negative behaviour in society, so it should be prohibited to correct better communities and decrease the negative impacts of that.
